Some questions that were brought up at the forum and what i think about them.

Promoting cultural exchanges - We should learn about cultures and habits from abroad and in return present to foreigners our rich culture and hospitality.

Conscientiousness - We should become more conscientious by reacting to and stopping problems such as the exploitation of minors, sex tourism, racism in all its forms and classism. These are problems that have been associated with Brazil for a while, yet if everyone denounced such behaviour with the support of the relevant authorities then it would stop.

Creation of Jobs - Tourism can create various employment opportunities in hotels, hostels, restaurants etc., and increasingly these jobs will be more demanding hence improving quality.

Social Inequality - Year by year, this is one of the most growing problems: nothing will change whilst the richest people in society think that they cannot help more needy people. If only 5% of the income of the richest people was given to the poorest people then the proportion of people living under the poverty line would fall from 22% to 5%.

Companies and Public Power - Companies should not leave all of the problems for the public to resolve, but should instead help. In return the public (supported by the government) should invest more in tourism, and also in other key areas such as city maintenance works, creating shelters for street children, security/safety in dangerous areas. This would help bring more and more tourists to the city whilst making them safer.

Lack of Opportunities for Young People - Few young people have the opportunity for financial growth because if one finishes state school and does not have the money or financial support to pay to go to private university then the chance of passing the entrance exam for state university is slim because those with money can study and have better education in private schools and then have preparatory classes before the entrance exam. Therefore I think that all universities should have a certain number of spaces for people from poor backgrounds. There are also the youngsters who work to earn money for their families, and in my opinion they should be eligible for some support to do a course related to tourism. It would be good if the more experienced, older kids could monitor the younger ones as they will be aware of the problems encountered by each one.

Tourism in the Communities - Tourism helps communities interact culturally with volunteers who give free courses. And some of these volunteers choose to live in the communities whilst in Brazil, and this is a good way to learn the reality of the communities. Some tourists think that communities are only what the media say, but this is not always the truth as the media sometimes relays only favourable information. I think therefore that the media should pay more attention to impoverished communities and to NGO's that are trying to help Brazil. Also, artists can work towards using their work to inform wealthier people that there are still many people needing help in the world today.
